At the beginning of next week, the council against organized crime will gather to discuss how the situation looks and what measures need to be taken to break new recruitment of children and young people into the criminal gangs.
The reason is the ongoing wave of violence. In the last ten days alone, seven people have been shot dead in the country.
The Council Against Organized Crime was established last December and is chaired by the Minister of Justice. Its permanent members are the national police chief, the head of the National Police Agency’s operational department, the attorney general, the director general of customs and the directors general of the Ecocrime Agency and the Swedish Tax Agency.
Representatives from the National Board of Institutions (SiS), the National Board of Health and Welfare, the Swedish School Administration and Sweden’s municipalities and regions (SKR) have also been invited to the special meeting.
