Last spring, all parties agreed that imports should be reviewed and stopped. But the governing parties have now changed their minds. This is how Tobias Billström (M) answers why the gas boats have not been stopped. – The import of Russian gas has decreased in the last year and it is good that it is that way. But of course we still have an influx of it. More gas boats this year But so far this year, five boats have arrived with Russian gas. Last year at the same time, only three had arrived. It shows statistics from the research organization CREA, which followed the ships’ movements on marine apps. – With this gas, Sweden finances Russia’s war. It is a sign of weakness on the part of the Swedish government that a year later they have not managed to stop the Russian gas, says Rolf Lindahl, spokesperson for climate and energy at Greenpeace. – It sounds like Tobias Billström doesn’t have a handle on the situation. Any Russian gas calling at a port is too much. It must be stopped completely, says the Center Party’s climate and energy policy spokesperson Rickard Nordin. Several countries have stopped the import To Great Britain, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, the Russian gas boats are no longer welcome. The countries through new laws stopped the import. But the Swedish government would rather wait for the rest of the EU countries. – This is an issue when we think it is important to keep an EU line and we note that there is no support for increased sanctions on this point from the EU’s side. – We know that the Baltic states have gone ahead and banned this import. It is clear that Sweden can do it too. It is important both for our own security reasons but also for solidarity with Ukraine, says Rickard Nordin (C).
