A man stabbed a woman working in psychiatry to death in Gotland, Sweden, on Wednesday. According to the prosecutor, the man chose his victim based on this profession.
The attacker has confessed to the act and he has been arrested. The prosecutor has demanded that he be arrested on suspicion of murder.
The woman who was stabbed to death worked as a coordinator of psychiatric care in Sweden, Swedish media reports. According to the prosecutor, the suspected 32-year-old stabber had chosen him as his target.
– It is related to his public job description, Chamber Prosecutor Petra Götell says.
– There is information that he suffers from a mental illness and that he committed the act under the influence of drugs.

Police commissioner Fredrik Persson said at a press conference on Thursday that it was too early to comment on information about the suspected perpetrator’s Nazi connections. However, a political motive for the act has not yet been ruled out.
– But what has been revealed in the research so far does not indicate that.
The stabbing happened in the center of Visby near the place where the chairman of the center party Annie Löof a press conference was to be held. The event was canceled and Lööf was taken to safety.
