The Google Meet mobile app is getting some interface changes to make it easier to use. Several fun features and a mode optimized for mobile devices are coming.

Google Meet, the videoconferencing platform of the Internet giant, continues to undergo profound transformations. A necessity to remain competitive against competitors such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams! Google recently introduced a practical function allowing you to transfer a call from one device to another and will soon allow an AI to take notes for you. And the company does not intend to stop there! It has taken advantage ofa blog post to detail upcoming updates, which will include a redesigned interface with easier access to advanced features, several entertaining options and a mode optimized for mobile devices.

Google Meet: a redesigned interface for better accessibility

The call interface will be getting a bit of a makeover. It will make it easier to start, receive and schedule video calls by introducing new options. In addition, a new real-time chat will be integrated into calls, allowing you to share links or comments in real time if you don’t want to speak out loud. Another change: you will benefit from new call control buttons and you will be able to more easily access live subtitles, which are available in no less than 70 languages.

Google Meet will also get fun new customization options for your video calls, such as backgrounds, filters, and various effects. The company will even offer accessories (hats, beanies, glasses, etc.) that you can layer during your calls. Emojis with reactions will also make their appearance, allowing you to react to conversations in ways other than just messages. You will be able to approve a comment, celebrate, applaud, or even laugh. These emojis will be available in several skin tones.

Google will take advantage of this to improve screen sharing on iOS and Android, making it easier to broadcast photos, videos and presentations to all participants. The app on Android and iOS will also integrate an audio-only mode, with larger and easier to use call control buttons. Perfect for taking calls while you’re walking, in a car or on public transport with fewer distractions!

Finally, you will be able to quickly transfer your calls from one device to another. No need to disconnect from the active session and reopen the link to the video conference on the second device! All of these new features will be gradually deployed on the Android and iOS versions of Google Meet in the coming months, without having more details at the moment.
