Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi completed a two-day visit to Chad on Tuesday evening where he was decorated by his counterpart Mahamat Idriss Deby. The latter expressed his gratitude for his involvement in the Chadian Transition since his designation as facilitator by ECCAS. Three cooperation agreements have been signed between the two countries, in particular concerning reciprocal visa exemption for their nationals, but Félix Tshisekedi’s mission to Chad is not quite finished.

Accompanied by the president of the Chadian Electoral Agency, Ahmed Bartichiret, and the Minister of Infrastructure, Aziz Mahamat Saleh, he is currently leading a major regional fundraising effort from Luanda to Malabo via Libreville, Brazzaville and Yaoundé with the aim of financing the next legislative elections in Chad.
The members of the National Transitional Council, which acts as Parliament, have until now been appointed by the head of state. The elections should be held in October at the latest, according to Minister Mazenga.
