Most recently, the Middle-earth franchise with the animated film was the Lord of the Rings: the Battle of the Rohirrim represented on the big screen. However, the next live action adventure from the world created by JRR Tolkien is already being worked on. We have known that the Hunt for Gollum has been coming since last year.
As the film’s working title suggests, the story revolves around the most dodgy of all ring wearers. According to initial information, the Gollum offshoot should play between Bilbo’s birthday and Frodo’s departure to Bruchtal. The film is staged by none other than the lord of the rings veteran Andy Serkis.
Longer waiting time for Lord of Ring fans: The Gollum film will only come in December 2027
When The Hunt for Gollum was announced, it was said that the new gentleman of the Rings film should come to the cinema someday in 2026. As it turns out, the project is already in default. Compared to The Direct, Serkis personally gives an assessment for the rough starting period. We have to wait a year longer.
Specifically, Serkis says:
It is not in 2026. It was originally supposed to be December 2026. Now it will be December 2027.
The film is still at the very beginning:
We are still at the very beginning of the writing process. We will start preparing later this year. Preparations take a large part of the time, six or seven months, and then we will Turn next year. This means that the film will be released in December 2027.
Pull out your schedule and so mark the December 2027 With a red curly. This keeps The Hunt for Gollum at least a tradition: Warner Bros. So far, Peter Jackson’s Middle-earth films has always brought to the cinema as an elaborate fantasy blockbuster event.
Andy Serkis’ The Hunt for Gollum follows a bitter master of the rings flop in the cinema
The Rohirirrim battle was also based on this publication strategy, but could not make too big waves on the screen. The Middle-earth anime only included a little more than 20 million with a budget of $ 30 million and is therefore considered a financial flop.
However, this cannot be said of the previous live action adaptations. Both the master of the rings and the Hobbit films still appear in the lists of the most successful films ever. Here we are talking about captain results that are mostly near the billion mark.
