29-year-old Alex Nedeljkovic has scored a total of four goals in North American leagues.
Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic scored a goal in the NHL when his team defeated the Buffalo Sabers 5–2.
Nedeljkovic scored his goal at the end of the third period by hitting an empty net. The goalkeeper’s shot from his own end, who has saved 40 times in his matches, ended up directly in the middle of the goal.
The 29-year-old American is the first goalkeeper to record both a goal and an assist in the same match. He is also the first goaltender to score in the NHL, AHL and ECHL.
– I have always enjoyed playing on the puck. When I was younger, I followed the best puck players like Marty Turco and Martin Brodeur. I learned a lot about puck handling from them. It’s been a part of my game for as long as I can remember, Nedeljkovic said, according to the NHL.
Nedejkovic has actually scored a total of two goals in the AHL. He scored the first in 2018 and the second in 2023. Nedeljkovic completed his first goal in the ECHL in December 2016.
Buffalo took the lead in the opening set, but Pittsburgh scored three times in the second. Buffalo’s Finnish guard Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 14 saves in the match.
In the second NHL match of the evening, the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Vegas Golden Knights with a score of 3–2. Carolina’s most powerful bull Seth Jarvis with two hits. The Finns were left without power points.
