Teemu Pasanen will continue as head coach of the cross-country national team next season as well. Jussi Piirainen joins the national team coaching team. She will be responsible for coaching the women’s national team in the future.

Ville Oksanen continue in men’s coaching. Piirainen is getting involved in coaching women already last spring Juho Halonen.

Pasanen told Sport to continue in the Rovaniemi Finnish Championships, but some small things were still open at that time.

– The whole line-up for the coaching team was open. When it was found out, I was able to make a final decision. Yes, I was mentally prepared to continue earlier, Pasanen said.

The skiers did well at the Beijing Olympics, but there was still a long way to go.

– The Olympics turned out to be a really good result. We have to try to continue it, getting the same result is a tough goal in the next value competitions in Planica, Pasanen said.

– Not everything went perfectly in Beijing either. The posts were left to scramble and are important to the head coach because they describe the team’s contribution. The clear goal is to take that medal yet especially from the men’s message.

Pasanen’s goal is to improve cooperation with young people and young coaches.

– I am concerned about the arrival of new skiers and also about the development of those who have joined the national team.

Last season’s successes include a preparation camp and solutions that were made a few weeks before the Olympics. Some of the skiers were high and some were low, according to what suited anyone. The national team has also managed to stay very healthy in recent years.

Next season, the Planica World Championships will be at an altitude of 900 meters under normal conditions. Therefore, there are fewer high-pitch camps in the program last season.

Jussi Piirainen, who had previously been involved in the coaching of the national team, joined in with good pleasure.

– We have a nice work team, a good coaching team and everyone is a familiar friend. I have also been in contact with all female skiers. Every athlete must be able to develop, everyone has different areas for development, Piirainen stated.
