The girl who was the victim of attempted murder in Skellefteå has woken up, prosecutor Irene Falk announces in a press release.
– The girl is awake but it is not relevant to hear her at the moment and it is uncertain whether it will be possible or appropriate to hear her in the investigation. We have to make an assessment of what kind of ability she will have to remember and tell and weigh that against the burden that an interrogation would entail for her, says Irene Falk.
The girl is still being treated for her injuries in hospital. She has been moved from the intensive care unit and her condition has stabilized.
It was on July 7 that a girl under the age of 15 was found badly injured and the police were called to Moro Backe in Skellefteå after. A minor boy is suspected of the crime. The prosecutor decided that a medical age assessment of the suspect should be carried out. If it were to show that the boy had turned 15 at the time, prosecution could be relevant.
– The result of the age assessment is expected to be clear in mid-August at the earliest, says Irene Falk in the press release.
