A man has indeed been entrenched for several hours in a house in this town located 20km north of Avignon. In the early morning, gendarmes had been deployed to arrest this 46-year-old individual as part of the search warrant for “threats and insults” to which he is subject, indicates Gard objective. Above all, the madman did not have permission to be in this village. Except that the soldiers did not manage to stop him since a “device slowing down the advance of the gendarmes” had been installed.
“There is a man entrenched in his home in a house in the heart of the village of Saint-Laurent, he is said to be armed with one or more weapons. The whole village is cordoned off and the GIGN is on the spot”, confirmed the mayor to France 3 Occitania. A GIGN unit from Orange was thus sent as reinforcements and negotiations were started with the forties. According to the elements collected at this stage, the forty-year-old seems alone in the house and does not hold anyone hostage.
