Six straight wins in the first six games. Gold tipped Färjestad really had a dream start to the new SHL season – then they went to Jönköping this weekend.
Färjestad’s fiasco
Many had probably already factored in the seventh straight victory for FBK when they faced table jumbo HV71 on Saturday. Then the match was kicked off and after just 11 minutes, bottom team HV71 had gone up to a 3-0 lead against supreme league leader Färjestad.

The FBK goalkeeper Max Lagacé threw the stick in pure frustration and was then substituted in the first period. In came instead Damian Clara but still could not save Färjestad from a shock loss against HV71 with 6-3.
Anger: “It sucks”
Now Lagacé vents his great anger after the unexpected defeat and the early substitution.
– It was one of those evenings… One of those that you don’t want to be repeated very often. This sucks, he says to the local newspaper Värmlands Folkblad.

The 31-year-old Canadian was not at all satisfied with his effort and really disappointed that he was not allowed to complete the match in Jönköping.
– I was not satisfied. It’s never a good feeling to be replaced. You want to finish what you start. But I definitely understand the decision – we needed to change something. But from my point of view: I hate it, he tells the newspaper.
– It is never one hundred percent the goalkeeper’s fault and there is no point in taking all the blame yourself. But like I said, if one of those pucks could hit me. Sometimes there is not much you can do.
