The giant turnaround for Oliver Ekman-Larsson tonight – changes NHL team and gets multi-million dollar contract after Stanley Cup victory

Last week he won the Stanley Cup with Florida – now defender Oliver Ekman-Larsson is ready for Toronto, writes the Canadian club on its website.

The contract is for four years and is worth the equivalent of around 37 million annually.

32-year-old Oliver Ekman-Larsson from Karlskrona began his career in Allsvenskan Tingsryd in the 2007/2008 season and then managed to play in Leksand before leaving Sweden for the NHL in 2010.

In the past season in Florida – which was crowned with the Stanley Cup trophy after a seventh and decisive game against Edmonton – he accounted for a total of 32 points, including nine goals and 23 assists.

In Toronto, he becomes teammates with several other Swedes, among them the star forward William Nylander.
