The giant talent Melwin Lycke Holm’s honest confession about tough times: “It’s awful”

A bright future is predicted for young Melwin Lycke Holm.
But recent times have been tough for the 18-year-old.
– It’s awful, he admits to Radiosporten.

Only 15 years old struck Melvin Lycke Holm through big by winning SM gold in 2020. He thus became the youngest Swedish champion of all time in Sweden’s sports history.

Melwin’s tough time

When he has a father and trainer named Stefan Holm expectations are sky high for the young high jumper. Today he has managed to turn 18 years old and has already won a total of four SM gold medals in his career.

But the last time has been difficult for young Melwin and he has wrestled with his inner thoughts in the pursuit of reaching the dream limit of 2.20 m. On Wednesday evening he was up and running again and jumped a nice 2.18 mi Karlstads GP.

Lycke Holm’s words

The height is almost a personal best for Lycke Holm and it was enough for second place in the high jump competition. The 18-year-old also tried at 2.20 m but again failed to reach the desirable height.
– Already when I was 15 years old and everything was going so well, I did 2.17 m and won SM gold, so I have been chasing 2.20 m since then. I think that if I could only get over that limit, a lot could release even more, he says to Radiosporten.

After the competition, Melwin Lycke Holm opens up about the tough times that have been and how exactly 2.20 has affected his well-being.
– It’s awful, isn’t it. To be honest, there has been a lot of anxiety about it. Well, it has taken a toll, it has, he admits in the interview.

The 18-year-old does not want to promise too much, but still feels that he is so incredibly close to succeeding in reaching the height that he has longed for for several years.
– You should never promise something like that because then it will never happen and every time I have said that I feel good and can take 2.20, it has not happened. But it feels like the time is coming, it has been time for a very long time, but now it should definitely be time, he says to the radio channel.
