The giant sawing of the Junior crowns despite the victory – Mikael Renberg strongly critical: “Disastrous bad”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The junior crowns took their second straight victory in the JVM.
But it did not impress the expert Mikael Renberg at all.
– It is almost catastrophically bad, he asserts in the SVT studio.

Sweden had never before lost against Germany in the JVM context after a total of 22 matches played against each other over the years. There was also going to be another victory on Tuesday night, but it was much more dramatic than most had expected.

Sweden won

After the Junior crowns’ crushing JVM premiere where they slaughtered Austria with a whopping 11-0, many were really excited to see a new match with the young Swedes. But with a big play Nikita Quapp in the German goal, Sweden found it extremely difficult to get the puck in.

At the end of the first period they managed to score 1-0 and it would also be the only goal of the match as the Swedish goalkeeper Carl Lindbom also performed well at the box office. Germany also managed to get a strong final push into the match, but Sweden was able to hold on and take its second straight victory, albeit a shaky one.
– It was dramatic all the way in. They put us to the test, but we worked it out. Everything wasn’t perfect, but we fought for each other. It was a moral victory, says the JVM confederation captain Magnus Hävelid to SVT.

Harsh criticism

After the match, the Junior crowns receive strong criticism after the unexpectedly weak performance against the Germans.
– Hats off to Germany, with that being a horrible game by Sweden on the defensive, says the SVT expert Jonas Andersson in the broadcast.

The SVT colleague Mikael Renberg then goes even harder in his criticism of Sweden’s efforts on the ice.
– It is incredibly positive that Sweden wins the match. But it’s a clearly failed effort, I think. Sweden was good in one period and it was the second. The first was not good and the third was almost catastrophically bad. Goalkeeper Carl Lindbom saves Sweden, says the expert in the SVT studio.

Much tougher opposition awaits in the Czech Republic and host nation Canada for the Swedish side. Then you have to rise considerably, Renberg believes.
– It is rejected and if Sweden is to go far in the tournament, they must lift themselves up properly. Sweden is quite weak in its own zone and on stress-sensitive slopes, says the SVT expert and continues:
– Sweden are incredibly cute and sweet in the attack zone. Then when you meet better opposition, you can’t keep messing around like this.
