Alex Edler lingered with a leg.
Back then, everyone was worried about Connor McDavid.
Now several are rushing towards the Swedish hill.
– It is extremely dangerous, says Edmonton player Zach Hyman.
Connor McDavid is the world’s best hockey player right now and a few days ago he played his 500th game in the NHL. In those games, he has been recorded for over 700 points, more than any other active player in the same number of games – and this season he has started on a level all his own.
The anger last night
Last season, McDavid scored a mind-boggling 123 points. This season he has accounted for 32 points in 17 games, and if he keeps this pace, he will end up well over 150 points. McDavid has an ability to stay injury-free, partly because he is so fast that he is difficult to get to, but partly because many would not dare to injure the league’s big poster name.
But last night all Edmonton supporters had to hold their breath after a real blow to the superstar. In Edmonton’s meeting with the LA Kings, Swedish defender Alexander Edler stayed with one leg after being spun away by McDavid, and it hit his knee hard. McDavid had trouble getting up, and Edler immediately had to fend off angry Edmonton players. Fortunately, McDavid was not seriously injured, and later in the period he got revenge on Edler with a cross-check.

“Is extremely dangerous”
Edler was handed a two-minute suspension for his leg tackle, but many believe he deserved more. McDavid’s teammate Zach Hyman was livid in a halftime interview.
– Edler made exactly the same tackle on me a few years ago. I was away for two months that time. It’s extremely dangerous and I’m just glad Connor is okay, Hyman said.
During the game, McDavid came close to scoring an incredible dream goal, when he went on a solo raid and came close to putting the puck in with only one hand on the stick. However, Viktor Arvidsson managed to volley the puck away just before it crossed the goal line, and the Kings won the game 3-1.
