The giant rage after Alexander Isak made the “assist of the century” in the Premier League – everyone is furious now: “The scandal of the ages”

Alexander Isak’s show made the whole football world drop its jaw.
But at the same time, everyone is now racing towards a decision in connection with the matchless performance.
“The scandal of the ages,” writes a supporter.

Alexander Isak has taken the Premier League by storm this season, and his goal average is nothing short of terrifyingly impressive. Last weekend, for example, he scored two goals in the important home match against Tottenham.

The assist of all time?

But Newcastle and coach Eddie Howe have throughout the season been careful with the Swede, and in yesterday’s weekly round against Everton, Isak had to start the match on the bench. In the 75th minute, however, the Swede was allowed to enter, and it wasn’t long before he presented himself with a performance that would make the entire football world drop its jaw.

In the 81st minute, Isak got the ball to the far left, completely surrounded by Everton players. But Isak spun a couple of Everton defenders away several times, while dancing forward along the extended goal line. He found his way to teammate Jacob Murphy who was standing in front of the goal, and 4-1 was a fact. Isak’s performance immediately caused a huge stir on social media, with many quick to call it the Premier League assist of the year, but some went so far as to call it the best-looking performance in the league of all time.

“Probably the best-looking assist I’ve seen,” writes icon Michael Owen.

That’s why the fans rage

But at the same time, there were a lot of supporters and football viewers who went crazy – over the Premier League’s decision. When Isak poked the ball in front of goal, it took Everton defender James Tarkowski before reaching Murphy, and in the Premier League’s official tool, Isak was not awarded the assist.

On social media, angry comments poured in (and especially from those who play the Fantasy Premier League, where players are awarded points for their performances).

“I can’t believe this is true,” writes one supporter.

“This is the robbery of the times,” writes another.

“So Isaak dribbles past five players and gives one player an open goal, but that doesn’t count? Who really controls this?”, writes a third.
