The giant criticism against Janne Andersson – now thunderstruck for the election before the important EC qualifying matches: “He must be fired”

Super important matches in the EC qualifiers.
Then Janne Andersson is sawn – hard.
Now some are even calling for his resignation.
“He must be fired immediately,” writes profiler and podcaster Thomas Wilbacher.

Janne Andersson has had a difficult year. Sweden missed out on the World Cup and have had a leaden start to European qualification, with losses to Belgium and Austria, meaning that the uphill battle to reach the championship is now huge. Sweden probably needs to go clean in the five recurring matches, where the home match against Austria and the away match against Belgium will be key matches.

Sawed heavily

In the past year, Janne Andersson has also received a lot of criticism for his team selections, and he was also heavily criticized in connection with the well-known TV fight with Bojan Djordjic. Should Sweden miss the European Championship, it would be a huge failure, but the national team management has still stressed the confidence they have in Janne Andersson, and how unlikely it actually is that he would be fired.

But ahead of Sweden’s two leaden EC qualifying matches against Estonia, on Saturday, and Austria, on Tuesday, more critical voices are now being raised against the national team captain. Sweden has injury concerns in the backline, which has led to Andersson being forced to call Malmö FF’s left-back Martin Olsson into the squad. Olsson is far from regular in the Allsvenskan team, but still took a place in the national team ahead of, for example, Gabriel Gudmundson, who is a regular in the Lihue 1 team Lille, and Noah Persson, who played 90 minutes in both matches when Young Boys last week took to the Champions League.

“Must be fired”

The selection has caused many to open their eyes, especially since Andersson has previously received criticism on several occasions for not daring to invest in new, younger players in his selections.

“Noah Persson. 20 year. Fine efforts in the Allsvenskan. Got off to a good start for Young Boys, the Swiss league’s best team that will play in the Champions League this fall. A far more logical choice than Martin Olsson if now Augustinsson is uncertain,” writes Expressen journalist Noa Bachner.

But there are also voices that now demand that Andersson leave his position as national team captain.

“Janne Andersson must be fired immediately as national team captain. How this was not done before the summer is beyond belief! Dated in his tactics, dated in his leadership, lousy match coach. Thanks for this time and all the memories from the early years but THAT. IS. END,” writes football profiler and podcaster Thomas Wilbacher.
