A German supporter who calls himself “the saxophone man”. André Schnur31, has been wowing football audiences with his playing skills.
There have definitely been some of the biggest figures of the ongoing European football championships off the field Rudi Völler’s Schnura wearing a retro fan shirt and sunglasses.
He has collected hundreds of thousands of views on social media and the man who plays the saxophone has become one of the most recognizable characters of the Games.
Schnura has even become somewhat of a mystical figure, because he always comes unexpectedly to play and disappears again. He has thrilled the audience with well-known hit songs such as Samba de Janeiro and Freed From Desire.
It all started before the start of the European Championships.
Schnura lost his job at the music school where he had been teaching for the past six years. After this, he had a lot of free time, and at the same time the European Championships started in Schnura’s home country. He decided to take his saxophone and follow football around Germany. Since then, Schnura has been playing his saxophone on the streets and in fan areas.
However, the German did not expect to achieve such popularity.
– I am incredibly amazed by what is happening around me. The last few weeks have been ups and downs. I got fired from my job after six years and started asking myself what next, Schnura wrote in his Instagram post.
One supporter was written bythat he would like Germany to win so he could continue listening to Schnura.
The players of the German national team have also taken note of the German supporter’s playing skills.

The team’s iconic striker Thomas Müller has thanked Schnura for his support for the national team.
– Great job, André! Thank you for your support!
We want to perform at the closing ceremony
Even before the start of the Games, Schnura was a little or not at all known concert saxophonist and music teacher. With his performance, he wanted to convey a message to people.
– I want to use my five minutes of fame to remind you of something important. All eyes are on me now, but it won’t always stay like this. We all have worries, fears and insecurities, but we all long for peace, security and love. Simply put, we are all the same. I want to remind you to love and forgive each other.
People have declared Schnura on the internet a hero of the new German unity and a European peace ambassador.
Schnura has been invited to perform as the games progress to television programs and perhaps the most famous saxophonist in Germany at the moment is planning even his own tour in the fall.
An official petition has even been started online for Schnura to appear at the culminating closing ceremony of the European Championships on July 14 in Berlin.
Schnura will be in Stuttgart on Friday when Germany face Spain in the quarter-finals.
