Uniper is a partner in all three of Sweden’s active nuclear power plants, Oskarshamn, Ringhals and Forsmark. You are also the owner of Barsebäck, which is being dismantled.
Recently, Åsa Carlson, CEO of Barsebäck Kraft, a subsidiary of Uniper, expressed that she hoped for a new energy park in the Barsebäck area where nuclear power could be included during the first half of the 2030s.
But the German parent company firmly says no to also building nuclear power via its subsidiaries.
George Oppermann has taken part in the reporting in Sweden and believes that it is all based on a misunderstanding. In addition, crisis-hit Uniper will be taken over by the German state from the turn of the year.
The current German government has decided to shut down all remaining nuclear power in the country as of April next year.
– If the German government wants differently, it can say so when it takes over, but I am not aware that there would be any changes, Oppermann tells Ekot.
