– The question is whether someone should have acted in a different way, we will investigate that now, says chief prosecutor Johan Knies.
The fire outside Falun led to a massive effort from the rescue service and a large area was cordoned off. After the fire, investigations were established into work environment violations and negligence by causing danger to others. The suspicions have now been written off in both cases.
– From what I understand, the course of the fire has been assessed as an accident, says Johan Knies.
The Swedish Work Environment Agency continues its investigation
According to information given to the police technicians and which the police consider to be credible, the cause of the fire must have been that a hose leaked in connection with the handling of oxygen bottles. When the oxygen was put under high pressure, heat was generated.
As regards the issue of work environment violations, the Swedish Work Environment Agency will continue with its own investigation. Should that investigation reveal anything new, they can make a new report to the prosecutor and the police.
Can be a corporate fine
The investigation into the permit handling continues.
– There has been no existing permit. Should it turn out that the company was broken in some way, there could be a question of a corporate fine, but it is too early to speculate about that now, says Johan Knies.
