Despite the previous government’s stated goal of reducing the gap between rich and poor, the so-called Gini coefficient rose above 0.3 for the first time – from 0.297 in 2020 to 0.302 the following year.
An important reason is believed to be the strong increase in the value of shares in 2021.
The Gini coefficient measures the inequality of income distribution in society. The number can be between zero and one – the higher the number, the greater the income disparity. If the number is one, all income is with a single person.
