If the month of February is already busy with AAA releases in video games, March will also be particularly intense, with in particular a certain Resident Evil 4 Remake which will close Capcom’s fiscal year in an explosive way. If this restored version looks great (we remind you that we have already played the game and it looks great indeed), many changes have been made by Capcom who wants to correct certain elements of the game deemed obsolete . Among these, the famous Quick Time Events (QTE) will no longer be part of the game. This is what Game Informer reports to us, which had the exclusivity of a new playable demo. For
Yasuhiro Ampo and Kazunori Kadoi, the two game directors of the game, the QTEs no longer really have their place in 2023 and have therefore been removed entirely from the game. On the other hand, the knife now has an ephemeral lifespan, in the in the sense that it ends up breaking from being used. A choice of game design which obviously recalls Zelda Breath of the Wild, but Capcom specifies that it will be possible to pick up several knives during the adventure.
Among the novelties planned with this remake, the appearance of new enemies, like this shirtless colossus with an impressive looking buffalo head mask. The latter walks around with a long hammer, which gives him a fairly large strike force. Capcom has also specified that other new opponents have been created for this Resident Evil 4 Remake that is decidedly full of surprises. The Game Informer article also states that side quests have been added to Leon’s adventure, and can be triggered from blue flyers to be picked up all over the village. Another notable change: Ashley Graham, daughter of the President of the United States, will no longer have a health bar like in the original game, but will fall into a weak state when she gets hit too often. Leon S. Kennedy will be able to heal her, but if she continues to be hit during her weak state, she will eventually die. Good news in perspective.
The release of Resident Evil 4 Remake is expected for March 24 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series, PS4 and Xbox One.
