In recent years, many things in society have become more expensive. Everything from food and fuel to home furnishings and clothing has risen in cost as inflation has taken a firm hold on Sweden. Now, however, brighter times are looming as the inflation rate has fallen and key interest rates have been lowered.
But during the hard times that many Swedes have found themselves in in terms of personal finances, many have also looked to the second-hand market in the hope of making good deals. Buying and selling sites have in many respects received a boost and many product categories have increased in sales.

The mobiles sold for thousands of kroner
One category that rose in 2023 was technology and mobiles in particular. The old classic Nokia N92 mobile phone was sold after the end of bidding for over SEK 10,000 on the buying and selling site Tradera. And the old Ericsson R310S was sold for just over SEK 6,000. In other words, it is possible to say that if you have something to sell, you can make a lot of money, especially if it concerns mobile phones that otherwise lie around gathering dust.

Other technology gadgets that have been pawned for high amounts are also game consoles including classic games.
Such a deal brought in an incredible 57,500 kroner for a seller at the beginning of 2024. What he sold was nothing more than the cult game “The Legend of Zelda – A link to the past” including the Zelda Gold Pack and the old game console Super Nintendo.
Tradera’s communications manager Sofia Hagelin recently told News24 that the number of computer and video games has received a substantial boost recently. Every day, an average of 1,200 games are sold on the site.
– Just over 100,000 computer and video games changed hands during the last quarter, that’s 1,200 games a day. In computer and video games, PS4 sells the most, followed by Nintendo Switch, XBOX 360, Nintendo Wii and NES Nintendo 8-bit. The categories Xbox 360, Nintendo Switch and Skylanders are growing the most.

But it’s not just Super Nintendo and Zelda that can result in a smaller fortune.
There are other games, declared cult and now classic, that can be played for tens of thousands of kroner.
On October 26, a bidding for the video game “Donkey Kong Classics” including the Nintendo 8-bit console ended. The seller then collected an absurd 51,000 kroner.
Not bad.
