May 2023: Gällivareföretagaren has five companies that work for, among other things, the mining industry by renting out machines and personnel. Between May and November, all companies go bankrupt. Bankruptcy estate records show that the companies had 134 employees.
December: The Ecocrime Authority carries out several crackdowns in NorrbottenStockholm and Gothenburg linked to Gällivareföretagaren and his company. Large amounts of cash, luxury watches and gold items suspected to have come from criminal activity are confiscated. Three people are arrested but released. Three more people who are suspected of involvement are being interrogated.
February 2024: The Gällivare entrepreneur and his individual company are put into personal bankruptcy. The debts amount to almost SEK 245 million. All attempts to reach him fail.
September: The Gällivare entrepreneur is arrested in his absence.
October: The Gällivare entrepreneur is detained in his absence, suspected of several cases of gross fraud. The arrest also means that he is wanted internationally.
December 6: The entrepreneur is arrested at Larnaca airport, Cyprus. He is being held pending possible extradition to Sweden.
December 9: The Gällivare entrepreneur complains of chest pains and is taken to a private clinic in Larnaca under police guard, according to Cypriot media.
December 22: The entrepreneur escapes from the clinic by jumping out of the hospital window. According to the Reporter newspaper a policeman must have provided him with shoes to cope with the four-meter fall and a key to the handcuffs he was tied to the bed with. The man is said to have received a mobile phone from his Cypriot lawyer.
December 23: The man was arrested in a house on a construction site in Larnaca after a major police operation.
December 31: The Gällivare entrepreneur, a police officer and a Cypriot lawyer are detained. Suspicions of bribery and promotion of escape are directed at the police and the lawyer.
