What happens to the cameras?
News24 Have talked to Sharbel Youssef From Södermalm’s photo. Youssef tells us more about the cameras in question and why they are damaged.
– All cameras that contain film and that go through an X -ray can be damaged. This is because the film is active and wants to suck in light. In X -ray, a certain light is radiated and everything that shines through, especially if the film is outside the enclosure has a greater risk of being irradiated, says Youssef and continues:
– It may differ how protected they are when they go through X -ray. A camera with metal casing has a little better protection than one with plastic. Then some film is more sensitive and what it is for X -ray machine can also affect the damage to the pictures.

What happens to the pictures?
What happens to the pictures is that there is an exposure to the images, which can express themselves in different ways.
– There may be some stripes, waves or other designs in the pictures. Both vertically and horizontally, says Youssef.
“Ask those who work”
To avoid the film being damaged, Youssef has two tips.
– In the past you could ask those who work to put the camera on the side so that the camera does not go through X -ray, but it depends a little on who works. Some say they have to drive through everything in X -ray and then of course you do it, says Youssef and continues:
– You can also protect the camera by packing it in a metal box, such as a lunch box. Then it will dampen any damage as it goes through the radiation.
