The funeral of the former president, Henri Konan Bédié, who died on August 1, 2023, will take place from May 20. The announcement was made at midday, this Monday, March 11, following an audience at the Presidential Palace where Alassane Ouattara received Tidjane Thiam, the president of the PDCI.

The funeral will take place from May 20 to June 2. Three blocs are involved, namely the family of Henri Konan Bédié, his political party – the PDCI – and the Presidency of the Republic.
The announcement of this date marks the start of preparations.
These three parties must consult each other to refine the process of the funeral which will take place in three phases. First a period of condolences to the biological family of the former president. Then there will be an official funeral to honor the former head of state. And finally, a popular tribute will be paid to Daoukro, the stronghold of Henri Konan Bédié who should be buried on June 2, in his village, in Pepressou.
Facing the press, Alassane Ouattara assured his support: “I will be available for this funeral “, he stressed.
“ The dialogue will continue », assured Tidjane Thiam, at the end of this hearing.
