the fuel crisis has consequences for humanitarian operations

The Norwegian Refugee Council in the Central African Republic has had to ration fuel for its vehicles, which has slowed the pace of implementation of activities in the areas of education, livelihoods, water, hygiene and sanitation which are quite fuel-intensive given the logistics that are required. The frequency of humanitarian flights has been reduced to certain destinations. And for those concerning the Norwegian Refugee Council, where the bulk of our interventions are concentrated, I would speak of the prefectures of Nana-Grébizi and Basse-Kotto where the frequency of flights initially was between two to three flights per week. . It has been reduced to one or even two flights every two weeks. If the situation persists, it is to be feared that in the coming weeks, the most critical activities, I am thinking of activities that aim to save lives, will be seriously impacted.
