Charlotte Baris: Since October 7, all eyes have been on the Middle East. The massacre perpetrated by Hamas and Israel’s reprisals occupy everyone’s minds and monopolize the speeches of all our leaders. So much so that we almost forget another war at the gates of Europe…

The invasion of Ukraine, launched by Vladimir Putin’s Russia in February 2022, failed and the conflict seems to have taken lasting root in the east of the country. Despite some small victories in key battles, kyiv’s counter-offensive is slipping and the world seems to be losing interest in this war. In the United States, for example, the political class is divided on the question of support for Ukraine and on the European Union side, the granting of new financial aid is blocked by Hungary. It is in this context that the Ukrainian first lady, Olena Zelenska, went to Paris to inaugurate a new cultural institute and raise funds for her humanitarian foundation, which helps the population of her country. L’Express was able to carry out a major interview on the front page of the magazine this week. Very early on, the editorial team became involved with kyiv, notably through special issues dedicated to this war and we are continuing this commitment this week, recalling why we must not forget Ukraine…
