Frenchman Steven Da Costa was crowned European champion in -67 kg by beating Greek Dionysios Xenos this Saturday March 25 in Guadalajara, Spain. At 26, he won his third individual continental title after those of 2016 and 2019, to which were added two world champion titles in 2018 and 2021 and an Olympic gold medal in Tokyo in 2021. Another Frenchman, Mehdi Filali , was also crowned earlier in the day in -84 kg by winning against another Greek, George Tzanos. Additional sport during the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, karate will not be on the program of the Paris Olympics in 2024.
