At the end of the week, the verdict will be handed down in the high-profile trial in Avignon in the south of France, where 51 men stand accused of 200 rapes.
Several have already confessed to crimes, including Dominique Pélicot, and risk many years in prison.
Today, Monday, the trial ends and the defendants have been given one last chance to address the assembly. First up was Pélicot, who whispered apologies to both his ex-wife and the rest of the family.
– I want to start by paying tribute to my ex-wife’s courage, he said according to Le Figaro and continued:
– I regret what I did, for the suffering I subjected them to.
