France and Ukraine crossed in the qualifiers for the U21 European Championships.
Immediately after the final whistle, the French national team made an incredibly nice gesture – and handed over their match shirts to the Ukraine players.
It has been over three months since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The war has largely paralyzed Ukrainian sports, and several athletes have been forced into the military.
Eliminated in the European Championship qualifiers
Ukraine’s national football team, on the other hand, resumed operations for the ongoing national team gathering. Both the seniors and the U21 team. The latter have played for a place in the winter World Cup finals, but fell on the finish line.
An unfortunate own goal in the crucial match against Wales shattered Ukraine’s dreams of participating in the championship in Qatar later this year. Missing a tournament also made Ukraine’s U21 national team – which on Thursday played equal against the group winner and the great nation France.
Fine gestures
The match ended 3-3, and afterwards Real Madrid star Eduardo Camavinga made an incredibly nice gesture. After the final whistle, the midfielder walked into Ukraine’s locker room and donated the entire French squad’s match shirts to show his support.
A beautiful gesture that probably means a lot to the Ukrainian players.
