The French National Assembly ratified the NATO membership of Finland

Two thirds of the NATO countries have ratified the NATO membership of Finland and Sweden. Ratification from the United States is expected within a few days.

As expected, the French National Assembly ratified the NATO memberships of Finland and Sweden. 209 MPs voted in favor and 46 voted against the bill for Finland and Sweden to join NATO.

Now two thirds of the NATO countries have ratified the NATO membership of Finland and Sweden.

Ratifications are still missing from Spain, Greece, Portugal, Slovakia. From the Czech Republic, Turkey, Hungary and the United States.

Ratification from the United States already today?

The United States is expected to ratify the memberships in the coming days.

Director of the Finnish Foreign Policy Institute Mika Aaltola guessed on Twitter yesterday, Tuesday, that the United States will already vote for Finland and Sweden’s NATO membership today. Aaltola previously told that only 2-3 out of 100 people in the Senate are against the membership of Finland and Sweden.

Several US politicians have promised Finland and Sweden a quick ratification process.

It is feared that Turkey will drag out the ratification process well into the autumn.

NATO membership must be ratified in all member countries of the alliance.
