The French connoisseur: “I think the National Assembly is a little worried about winning tonight”

On Sunday, the shake-up election for power in the French parliament will be decided. Right up to the second round of the election, Macron’s decision to call new elections has baffled experts worldwide. Why did he call the election – and what can he gain from the tactic?

– I think that Macron, with the state apparatus he has, will be able to put many sticks in the wheel of the National Assembly, says the author and journalist Tomas Lindbom, who has covered French politics since 1970.
