Delfi and Postimees newspaper claim that Rõivas was drunk. Rõivas denies the claim.

Former Prime Minister of Estonia Taavi Rõivas was on his way to Japan when he was removed from the plane at Helsinki-Vanaa airport. It tells about it, among other things Estonian public radio company ERR.

The Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms that Taavi Rõivas, who was traveling as a representative of a business delegation, was removed from the flight on Saturday evening. However, the reason has not been stated.

Rõivas’ trip was not organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and according to the information director, the ministry is not responsible for the members of the business delegation or their movements.

Rõivas himself says that the allegations about his drunkenness are slander. He says he argued with the flight attendants about the use of his laptop.

According to Helsinki-Vantaa’s website, the flight to Tokyo Haneda Airport was supposed to leave at 17:55, but it was delayed by half an hour.

Rõivas is an Estonian Reform Party politician who served as prime minister in 2014–2016. When he took office, he was the youngest prime minister of EU countries.
