The former NHL player has tragically passed away – he was only 42 years old

Belarusian ice hockey has sadness. The former NHL player Konstantin Koltsov, has passed away.

This is confirmed by the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation in a statement. Konstantin Koltsov was also the boyfriend of the world number two in tennis, Aryna Sabalenka.

It does not appear how or when he died in the statement. Koltsov played three seasons in the NHL with the club Pittsburgh Penguins, as well as two Olympics with the Belarusian national team.

In addition to his playing career, Koltsov was also a coach for the KHL club Salavat Yulayev Ufa and the Belarusian national team.
“He was a strong and positive person, he was loved and respected by players, colleagues and supporters. May he rest in peace,” writes Salavat Julajev Ufa in a statement according to Reuters.

Konstantin Koltsov turned 42 years old.
