The former national team player in Blågult and the Allsvenskan gold hero has passed away

Hans “Hasse” Selander, who played 42 international matches for Sweden and was part of the football World Cup in Mexico in 1970, died this weekend after a long illness.

When Halmstads BK won the sensational SM gold in 1976, it was there Hans Selander as team captain. He was also there when HBK won another gold three years later.

By the master trainer Roy Hodgson Selander was then considered to be “the best team captain and one of the best players I have had”, writes Hallandsposten.

Hasse Selander broke through as a right back, but also played in other positions during his career. He was 78 years old.
