The former great promise got a boot from the NHL – now a terrible video revealed the truth behind the quick kicks

The former great promise got a boot from the NHL

Alex Galchenyuk, the third player in the 2012 NHL draft, received his starting passes in the summer just a short time after the publication of his new contract.

In July, there was some strange NHL news when the Arizona Coyotes drafted a forward by Alex Galchenyuk to the transfer list 12 days after signing the new contract. The next day, Arizona canceled the deal.

Galchenyuk, 29, had crashed his car. He had then resisted arrest and behaved in a threatening manner. Police said Galchenyuk had caused property damage but no personal injuries.

Galchenyuk’s parents are Belarusian, but he was born in Milwaukee and has represented the USA at the national team level. His father played in the national team of both the Soviet Union and Belarus.

A video of Galchenyuk’s summer romp has now been released, which is widely discussed, especially in the North American media. The video, shot by the Scottsdale Police Department’s overall camera, is 38 minutes long, but there are mainly clips from it in social media.

In the videos, the hockey player uses very violent and racist language. He makes death threats and refers to his connections in Russia. Among other things, Galchenyuk shouts that “the Russians will cut out your liver”.

– Let me go or I’ll make one phone call. You will never see your families again. How scary is that?

On July 9, the police had received a report about a drunk driver who had driven his car onto the sidewalk and hit a traffic sign and another car.

Witnesses had seen a man on the ground, who turned out to be Galchenyuk. Another man, Galchenyuk’s father, lifted the NHL player off the ground and moved him to the passenger seat. After that, the father started driving until the police stopped the car. The father tried to take responsibility for the incident, but eyewitnesses witnessed Alex Galchenyuk’s crash.

Galchenyuk issued an apology, in which he described his behavior as horrible and embarrassing. He said he was heavily drunk. He also wrote that he is applying for the support program of the NHL and the NHL players’ association, which helps with mental health or substance abuse problems, among other things.

Galchenyuk was a highly promising center who was booked by the Montreal Canadiens in the third round of the 2012 draft. After that, he represented Arizona, Pittsburgh, Minnesota, Ottawa, Toronto and Colorado in the NHL. In a total of 654 NHL regular season games, he has scored 146+208=354 points.

Galchenyuk did not receive any more offers from the NHL, but moved to Russia in August. He is currently playing in the KHL for St. Petersburg SKA on a two-year contract.
