A volcanic eruption has erupted in the area of Geldingadalur on the Reykjanes peninsula located in Iceland, reports Iceland Monitor. Over 10,000 earthquakes have been registered since Saturday and now the Foreign Ministry is warning Swedish travelers who are on the island of falling rocks and volcanic eruptions.
In Iceland, the authorities have tightened the security level after the earthquakes of the last few days. During Sunday, the largest earthquake was measured, which had a magnitude of 5.4.
– This could be the beginning of a longer period of volcanic eruptions on the island, says Björn Lund, who is a seismologist.
