The foreign ministers of Syria and Egypt discussed security in the Middle East | News in brief

Syrian Foreign Minister Assaad al-Shibani said on Tuesday that he had a telephone conversation with the Egyptian foreign minister Badr Abdelatty with in Middle East security.

It was the first diplomatic contact between the two countries since the coalition led by the extremist Islamic group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham took power in Syria in early December.

Syria’s Shibani said he was satisfied with the discussion and emphasized the importance of both countries to “achieve balance and prosperity in the region”.
