Work on the budget for next year continues to be affected by the tough economic situation. Currently, 85 million must be saved, out of the total budget of 9 billion.
The biggest savings are proposed to be made within the Elderly Board (-27 million), the Education and Labor Market Board (-15 million) and the Children and Education Board (-12 million).
“Signaled to the government”
The committees have now been tasked with coming up with proposals for streamlining and describing the consequences of possible reductions, says the chair of the municipal board, Ann-Marie Nilsson (C).
One of the factors that affects how much the municipality has to reduce is how much the municipalities receive in state grants.
– It can affect the conditions. The entire municipal sector has clearly signaled to the government that if we are to be able to maintain the quality in school and care, the state subsidies to the municipalities must be reviewed, says Nilsson.
In November, a decision is made on the budget.
