Anna Petersson grew up in Kalmar but now lives in Blekinge. According to her, the big competition is a very dear reunion for her old hometown.
– We have longed for this for three years and now it is finally here. It is absolutely magical, she tells SVT Småland.
“Race with a smile”
Another who has longed is Thomas Malmberg from Alvesta. He dreams of taking part in the competition himself, but has so far been content with taking part in the mini-version held earlier in the week.
– I just love this.
What is it that is so wonderful?
– Everything, everything! As they say: “Race with a smile”.
Slightly fewer than in previous years
2100 people registered for today’s competition. According to the organizer, the difference between how many registered and how many actually showed up was somewhat greater than in previous years.
– But it’s not really that strange. Many registered already in 2019 and have only moved forward their place, and a lot can happen in life at that time, says Magnus Nyberg, race director at Ironman Kalmar, to SVT Småland.
