The FNSEA is not releasing the pressure. The first agricultural union threatened on Sunday with a resumption of actions if Gabriel Attal’s recent announcements are not followed by concrete effects by the Agricultural Show. Message heard in Matignon, since the Prime Minister’s services indicated this Monday, February 12 that Gabriel Attal will receive, on Tuesday afternoon, the FNSEA and the Young Farmers.
The meeting will be held at 4:30 p.m. in the presence of Minister of Agriculture Marc Fesneau and his delegate minister Agnès Pannier-Runacher.
“We are not at the right tempo (…), we must accelerate the tempo,” warned the president of the FNSEA, Arnaud Rousseau, on Sunday, urging government action before the Show which begins on February 24 in Paris and where a number of politicians are expected, including the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron.
After two weeks of road blockages and sometimes tumultuous actions, the demonstrators broke camp at the beginning of February after three bursts of announcements from Gabriel Attal on subjects as diverse as pesticides, farmers’ pensions or synthetic meat. But since then there has been “no ministerial meeting” either with the Minister of Agriculture or with the Prime Minister, and “no follow-up point”, lamented Arnaud Rousseau.
“We want to see concrete decisions that are seen on the farms,” said the head of the FNSEA, even if “we understand that, regarding the law, we need a little delay.” On February 2, he raised the idea of a law by June.
“We put very concrete proposals on the table (…). If we were made fun of, obviously it could not happen in the classic conditions of welcoming the President of the Republic,” he said. -he warned. “No one has any interest in walking around. Because if there is no meeting, in the end we will come back,” he insisted, once again outlining a possible resumption of the farmers’ movement .
