Another hectic week awaits the French. No one will escape the rain.
The rain spared no one during the first two weeks of October. The rainfall record goes to Besançon with 154 millimeters, compared to a monthly average of 111 during this period. Paris has also reached records: the capital has already recorded the equivalent of a month and a half of rain while October is not even over, according to The Weather Channel. At this rate, the month of October could join that of September which recorded an excess of precipitation of almost 60% nationally.
Unfortunately, the situation will not improve this week. This Monday, the weather continues with nice clearings and above all mildness, with temperatures this afternoon between 16 and 25 degrees. A few showers will be possible in the North. The next day, the sky will already be cloudier, except in the southeast, but temperatures will remain mild, reaching up to 26 degrees in Biarritz.
It is on Wednesday that the situation begins to become complicated with an increase in southerly winds. Ex-Hurricane Leslie will, in fact, approach via Portugal. This will cause thunderstorms in the west and south. The north and east will still be spared and could even see nice clearings.
This disruption will become global on Thursday. According to the forecasts of Weather Francethe day of October 17 will be very gloomy. It will rain almost everywhere, with the risk of thunderstorms in the south. Only Corsica and the surroundings of Perpignan and Strasbourg could escape it. The east and Corsica will quickly be overtaken by the disturbance on Friday morning, which will also continue in the rest of the country.
The weather therefore still looks very depressing, despite the absence of cold. The Weather Channel even calls for vigilance for Thursday in order to “monitor the risk of flooding”, even if this will have nothing to do with the rain caused last week by Storm Kirk.
Only small hope in perspective according to trends Weather France : next week. “The week should be significantly less disrupted and rainy than the previous one. With an oceanic air mass, temperatures should be generally mild for the season,” according to the site. However, these predictions are yet to be confirmed.
