A forest fire has spread to 2,000 acres in the well-known Yosemite National Park in the United States. The fire threatens a grove where hundreds of Sequoia trees are found. In that tree family there are Redwood trees that can grow over 100 meters high.

The giant trees have become a symbol of the national park and one of the trees that is at risk of being hit by the flames is the “Grizzly Giant”, a tree that is believed to be about 3,000 years old.

About 1,600 people have already been forced to evacuate due to the fire, which started on July 7. It is not known how the fire broke out, but hot and dry weather conditions make it difficult for the rescue service to fight it.
