In 2019, the cinema saga of Tessa (Hero Fiennes-Tiffin) and Hardin (Josephine Langford) began, two newly in love who just couldn’t keep their hands off each other. At that time, the novel adaptation was as Fifty Shades light and lured with relatively demure erotic scenes. It was fun and had a certain charm. In a little over a month the fourth film in the series will be in cinemas and now it’s here first long trailer. But After Forever (OT: After Ever Happy) shows that having fun has long been unthinkable.

After After Love, After Forever looks like an exhausting relationship drama

At the end of the third film, After Love, Hardin learns that Vance (Stephen Moyer), his parents’ childhood friend, is actually his father. In Part 4, which is adapted from Anna Todd’s novel of the same name, Tessa also experiences a severe stroke of fate.

Part 3 already shifted the tone of the series from soapy erotic fun towards grueling relationship drama. But the cast has only grown to a limited extent. The trailer for After Forever again culminates in lots of shouting, arguments and shocked faces. The sex scenes, once a central advertising medium, seem like a side note. After Forever is coming to cinemas soon

But if the After Passion films have always been a serious relationship drama for you, you can be happy. Already at August 25, 2022 After Forever comes to the cinema. Castille Landon is directing again.

The finale of Tessa and Hardin will, however not the last Anna Todd film adaptation be. A prequel is planned that will illuminate the early years of teenager Hardin. There’s also a next-gen sequel coming in the After-Verse.
