According to the first results of the early general election in the Netherlands, the anti-Islamic and far-right Freedom Party (PVV) came first by a wide margin.
“NOW THE CAMPAIGN IS OVER AND THE VOTERS HAVE SPOKE”
Wilders, in his address to his supporters after the exit polls and the first results showing his party in first place, said, “I am calling out to the other parties; the campaign is over and the voters have spoken. Now we will have to look for similarities with each other. We will have to work together. PVV has now reached 35 seats that no party can ignore. We are fed up now.” “We want the Dutch to be in first place again and we will ensure this.” he said.
“WE WILL RULE THE COUNTRY”
Wilders argued that, based on these results, they could no longer be ignored, that an otherwise situation would be extremely undemocratic, and that the voters would not accept this, and said, “We will govern the country.” he said.
In his statement to the public broadcaster NOS, the racist leader tried to soften his previous statements and said that he wanted to be the prime minister of everyone, regardless of their ethnicity and religion, and that he hoped that they could reach an agreement in coalition talks with other parties.
Wilders said, “I am hopeful. I can understand that the parties do not want a government that acts against the Constitution. We will not do that either. We will not talk about mosques, the Quran, Islamic schools. We will talk about giving priority to them again, which is the hope of the Dutch.” said.
PVV WAS FOLLOWED BY THE WORKERS PARTY AND THE GREEN LEFT ALLIANCE
In the early general election held yesterday in the Netherlands, according to the exit polls and the first results, the PVV led by Wilders came first by winning 35 out of 150 seats in the parliament, while the PVV was followed by the Labor Party and the Green Party led by former EU Commission Vice President Frans Timmermans. It follows the left alliance with 25 seats.
REMOVED TO THIRD PLACE
Having lost 10 seats compared to the previous election, the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy, led by Dilan Yeşilgöz-Zegerius, fell to third place with 24 seats. The New Social Contract Party of Pieter Omzigt, who was elected from the Christian Democratic Union in the 2021 elections and later left and founded a party, participated in the elections for the first time, and took fourth place with 20 seats.
Omzigt, who has become the key name in this parliamentary arithmetic, had said in his previous statements that they would not enter into a coalition with Wilders, but after the first results, he refrained from making a clear statement on this issue.
The number of deputies of the Denk Party, whose members are mostly Turkish and Muslim, did not change compared to the previous election and was 3.
