The first player is “finished” with his job and has collected all knowledge points

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Being “done” with the profession – in World of Warcraft Dragonflight that should take months. But one player has already done it and grinded really hard.

Professions finally made sense again in World of Warcraft Dragonflight. However, it also takes a long time to bring your own profession to the maximum and farm all knowledge points – at least in theory. A player has shown perseverance and is already the perfect engineer. He learned everything there was to learn, many months before Blizzard intended.

What’s so special about it? The guaranteed knowledge points per week are actually very limited. For each profession you can collect around 15 knowledge points per week through quests and other activities in order to unlock new recipes and bonuses in the profession.

Since you need a total of up to 630 knowledge points for the crafting professions, it should actually take many months before players have reached the maximum here. At least that’s what Blizzard thought. But “Durtgod” showed on Reddit that you can already be done.

how did he do that? The trick here is the “Dragon Eggs of Knowledge”. These are items that can be earned in most content in Dragonflight. They can wait in a Mythic+ box, drop from defeating rare enemies or raid bosses, or found in treasure chests. However, the chance of this happening is extremely low. The intention is that you’ll get a dragon egg “once in a while” and get at most a handful of extra points per week.

Most players will find at most one, two or three eggs per week, some even none at all. Many even think there is a weekly cap that limits the receipt of these eggs.

But Durtgod didn’t let that stop him. Week after week he farmed treasures for around 8 hours a day and basically did nothing else. He farmed not only the piles of dirt and the magic boxes, but also many of the boxes that are not displayed on the mini-map – such as boxes of the Djaradin or the Dracthyr. These are not marked on the map and are therefore not discovered as often by other players. However, if you know the positions of these boxes, you can “farm them off” quite reliably.

To be even more efficient, Durtgod has been doing shard hopping time and time again. He joined groups from other realms to graze the crates on their realms as well. He mostly did this in the area where the current world boss is located – because there you can quickly find groups to switch to another realm.

Durtgod was able to farm between 45 and 55 dragon eggs per week and collect significantly more knowledge points than his professional colleagues.

Is that what Blizzard wanted? Basically yes. The eggs have been implemented as an additional reward that sometimes rewards players with an additional knowledge point. The drop chance for these dragon eggs is so low that farming them on a large scale is not really worthwhile or – as in the case of Durtgod – takes an extremely long time.

Durtgod was able to benefit significantly from this lead. According to his own figures, he has made between 35 million and 40 million gold in the weeks since Dragonflight’s release – and could probably have made a lot more if he had focused on higher-yielding professions such as alchemy or enchanting.

It will probably be a few months before other players follow suit.

How far are you with the professions in Dragonflight? Have you already “skilled out” almost everything? Or are you still miles away from it?
