The first minks to Denmark after the ban

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

It is a mink farm in Thyholm in North Jutland that received 753 minks from Norway on Saturday. Another several thousand minks are to be imported to Denmark.

The Danish S government decided in November 2020 to euthanize the country’s approximately 15 million minks for fear that the covid vaccine was not effective against the mutated variant of the coronavirus that had been found in mink herds.

Shortly afterwards, it was revealed that there was no legal basis for euthanizing the animals that were healthy. This led to the Minister of Food Mogens Jensen (S) being forced to resign.

In the spring of 2021, a mink commission was appointed which criticized Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen (S). It resulted in Frederiksen and the former Minister of Food receiving a reprimand from the Norwegian Parliament.

On January 1 this year, it became legal again to keep minks in Denmark.
