Long-awaited reform
Requested by King Mohammed VI in August 2023, the reform of the Family Code is eagerly awaited, in particular by Amina Lotfi, president of the Democratic Association of Women of Morocco (ADFM): “ Now is the time or never to have a Family Code which restores parity, equality, social justice, which protects women, men and children from all forms of violence and discrimination.. »
Prohibition of marriage of minors, equality in matters of inheritance or even prohibition of polygamy: the demands are numerous, but nevertheless come up against the weight of the country’s religious traditions.
