After its release in 2019, the Joker film with Joaquin Phoenix sparked strong discussions and heated up many minds with its controversial nature. The film by Hangover director Todd Phillips ended up being a bombshell at the box office. Joker grossed over a billion dollars worldwidewhich is why, unsurprisingly, a sequel was announced.
It starts in cinemas this year with the title Joker 2: Folie à deux and promises a courageous reinvention of the first part. Alongside Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn, the next DC film about the iconic Batman villain will be a musical!
The first trailer for Joker 2 will be released tonight at 3:30 a.m. German time. In preparation, there is the usual disturbing video with Joaquin Phoenix in the role that won him an Oscar.

The exact plot of the Joker sequel has not been revealed yet. Parts of it are said to take place in Arkham Asylum. This is where Arthur Fleck possibly meets Harleen Frances Quinzel aka Harley Quinn after his placement at the end of Part 1. It is also certain that Joker 2 will have musical passages.
When does Joker 2 start in cinemas?
Joker 2: Folie à Deux runs in this country from October 3, 2024 on the big screen. In addition to Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, the psychological thriller-drama mix also stars Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2), Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin) and Catherine Keener (Get Out).
The sequel has In the USA it already has an R rating got an age rating, which promises a dark, brutal sequel despite the musical interludes. You cannot currently stream the first Joker part on a streaming flat rate anywhere. The film is available to rent or buy on Amazon Prime.
